🏠 SHAX Chess Rules for Beginners

📋 Basic Rules

  • White Team moves first, then players alternate turns
  • Click a piece to select it, then click where you want to move
  • White dots show valid moves for the selected piece
  • Capture opponent pieces by moving onto their square
  • Win by capturing the opponent's King (♚ or ♔)
  • Play against a friend or challenge the AI with 3 difficulty levels!

📋 How Each Piece Moves

♔King: One square in any direction
♕Queen: Any distance in straight lines or diagonals
🏰Castle (Rook): Any distance horizontally or vertically
♗Bishop: Any distance diagonally
♘Knight: L-shape: 2 squares one way, 1 square perpendicular
♙Pawn: One square forward, captures diagonally forward

🤖 AI Difficulty Levels

  • Easy AI: Makes random moves - perfect for beginners!
  • Medium AI: Looks ahead 1-2 moves and prefers captures
  • Hard AI: Advanced strategy with 3-move lookahead and piece positioning

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Protect your King (♔) - losing it means game over!
  • Use your Queen (♕) wisely - it's your most powerful piece
  • Pawns (♙) can only move forward, plan their moves carefully
  • Knights (♘) have unique L-shaped moves - great for surprises!
